Newborn Photography- FAQs
The time to have newborn photography is so special, but your first time can have you full of questions.
I am here to walk you through the ins and outs with some frequently asked questions.
When is the best time to book your newborn session?
It's best to book in your second trimester.
This will ensure that I have a spot for you on my calendar.
I book a limited number of newborns each month to ensure I am able to schedule within the ideal time frame for newborn photos.
When does the session take place?
I like to schedule newborns as close to day 14 as possible. This is the best time to capture those sleepy and curled up newborn poses.
Please don't hesitate to reach out if your baby has already arrived and is older that my ideal time frame. I have photographed newborns as old as 3 months, and was still able to achieve beautiful sleepy images.
how do I pre-book when I do not know when my baby is going to be born?
Birth and the immediate after care can be unpredictable for both mom and baby.
I use your due date as a placeholder until both mom and baby have been released home from the hospital.
I ask that pre-booked parents reach out, as soon as mom has delivered. Having a designated person to contact me takes the burden off of mom, so they can focus on bonding and adjusting to life with their new little one. Once I have been notified, I will send over your session date and time. Please note, sessions will take place Monday- Thursday and will generally start at 9 or 10 a.m. If an older sibling who naps is also being photographed, we will plan around nap time and adjust as needed.
What does it cost to book?
There is a $50 non-refundable retainer in order to hold your due date. This retainer is not an additional fee. It is applied to your session fee.
Will I need to bring anything to my session?
You will not need to bring anything to your session other than the items needed to care for baby.
I offer a fully stocked newborn studio. However, I understand that my clients may have sentimental items they would like to include.
These items are welcomed. Bring snacks! Deluxe and Premium sessions may last up to 3 to 4 hours. I always have water, coffee and kind bards in studio. Bring extra formula for baby, or be ready to nurse on demand. Newborns dictate our session, and can often be more hungry than normal during our session.
Can siblings participate?
Yes, siblings are welcomed during the newborn session as long as you have booked a Deluxe or Premium Session.
Siblings are not included in the Petite Newborn Sessions.
What happens if my baby arrives early and spends time in the NICU?
I ask that parents reach out immediately after birth, and to keep me updated on baby’s progress and release date. Once baby is released, we schedule a little more time for the session and work at baby’s pace.
If you have any other questions, please feel free to reach out and ask!
